A skid-mounted boiler (also called a skid-packaged or packaged skid boiler) is a complete boiler system—boiler, burner, pumps, controls, piping, and sometimes water treatment or fuel tanks—pre-assembled at the factory on a single steel frame (the “skid”). The skid is shipped as one modular unit so the buyer can lift it into place, connect utilities (fuel, water, electrical, flue/venting), and commission much faster than with a component-by-component installation.
A skid-mounted boiler package commonly includes:
Boiler pressure vessel (steam or hot-water boiler)
Burner and fuel system
Feedwater pump(s) and condensate return connections
Control panel and safety devices (automatic controls)
Instrumentation and valves
Optional items: water softener/pretreatment, deaerator, blowdown tank, fuel tanks, economizer.
These items are factory-mounted and piped on the skid so the system is functionally complete when it arrives.

Speed of installation: because the system arrives pre-assembled, on-site work is mainly hookup and commissioning, saving time and labour.
Compact footprint: skid designs optimize space use — helpful for tight sites or modular plants.
Lower field risk: factory assembly and testing reduce on-site piping/wiring errors and shorten lead time.
Portability and scalability: skids can be moved between sites or paralleled with additional skid units to increase capacity.
Skid-mounted boilers are used where rapid deployment, limited space, or temporary service is needed:
Industrial process plants with phased expansion
Construction sites or plant turnarounds (rental boilers)
Remote or modular facilities (e.g., packaged heating plants)
Backup or emergency steam/hot-water systems.
Because most piping and electrical work is pre-done, site work usually consists of:
Lifting the skid into position and securing to foundations.
Making final utility connections (fuel, water, electrical, venting/flue).
Hooking up control signals and interlocks with plant systems.
Running pre-start checks and factory acceptance tests (FAT) or site commissioning.
Factory support or vendor supervision is commonly supplied to speed safe commissioning.
Define duty & capacity: choose a skid rated for your required steam/hot-water load and operating pressure/temperature.
Check included auxiliaries: verify whether feedwater treatment, blowdown, controls, and flue components are included or optional.
Consider modular growth: if you may expand, pick a design that’s easy to parallel with additional skids.
Site constraints: check access for crane/transport, foundation points, and local venting/fire code requirements.
Skid systems make routine maintenance easier because components are accessible and standardized, but still require regular boiler inspections, testing of safety devices, fuel-train checks, and water-treatment monitoring per code and manufacturer guidance. Factory-recommended spare parts and a maintenance contract are often advised.
A skid-mounted boiler is a factory-assembled, transportable boiler package built for fast installation, compact footprint, and modular flexibility. It’s a practical choice when project schedule, site constraints, or temporary/rental needs make conventional field-built boiler plants impractical.
FangKuai Boiler has successfully commissioned the world’s first large-capacity methanol–hydrogen dual-fuel boiler at the Zhundong Base in Xinjiang. The system enables flexible switching between green methanol and hydrogen, marking a significant milestone in clean, low-carbon industrial energy supply and providing a replicable solution for high-energy-consuming industries.
Qingdao, China — Autumn 2025 — FangKuai Boiler Co., Ltd. made a striking appearance at the 67th National Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo & China International Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo held in Qingdao. As a leading name in industrial boiler technology, FangKuai’s booth at Hall CW-9 (West Entrance) drew steady crowds and emerged as one of the event’s standout attractions.
FangKuai’s 75T “Lego” modular boiler ships as factory-assembled modules that stack on site for fast installation, a smaller footprint and easier maintenance. Key features include a top-mounted large steam drum for better steam quality, a flattened low-profile layout to cut vibration risk, and a straight-path wing-tube condensation design for low resistance and efficient heat recovery.
